Squirrel Girl: there i did your personality for you
Squirrel Girl:
but no seriously.
Bolin's one of those characters that has a lot of good personality to them despite what has happened in their past. Orphaned at such a young age, it's pretty amazing that he's still so spirited and young-at-heart in comparison to his brother. It's mainly for the fact that growing up, Mako has protected and somewhat sheltered his brother from what living on the streets really was like. For this, instead of acting as his brother does today, he's more laid-back and naïve, but with an overall personality that is bright and warming. He tries to stay on the positive side in thinking, such as trying to raise money for the team by having his pet fire ferret do circus tricks, despite getting shot down on the idea by his brother, but he's still determined to think of ideas like that as good ideas, and even at times whenever his brother says that he's against the idea, he still attempts to go through with it.
The best part about Bolin is that he has such great mentality about himself, how comfortable he is about being himself. This is a guy who doesn't mind calling himself gorgeous or admit his insecurities (to the right people of course). He won't hesitate to say if something's getting to him or if something's just making him feel uncomfortable or scared (like for example, in the rundown with Amon, he tells Korra after thanking her for rescuing him that he's still pretty shaken up from that even and has had trouble sleeping). But in a round about way, the fact that he is oh so comfortable with himself gives him quite a bit of an ego, boosted by the rise in fame in the pro-bending world and how many fangirls he's gained from it all.
There's one person that means the most to Bolin, and that is brother Mako. As previously stated, Bolin was orphaned at the age of six when their parents were killed, and Mako took the responsibility for taking care of the two of them from then on out. The two brothers share such a close bond, and they both certainly do look out for each other. While Bolin is one who is open to his feelings, he trusts Mako enough to tell him about his infatuation for Korra, and even asks him for advice for what to do with Korra. ... Even if a little bit later, he accidentally stumbles upon Mako and Korra kissing. Oop. Depsite this making a wedge in their relationship, Bolin even goes to asking if they were going to be alright. Of course, they were, as they apologized for the mess they had caused each other and continued to remain close.
But there is one catch towards his relationship with his brother. The two are the best of friends, but Bolin does feel as if he's constantly running in second place with his brother. In the same fact, Mako can sometimes be incredibly protective of his brother and think that sometimes the ideas he comes up with aren't the best and dismisses them, such as when Bolin trying to raise money with Pabu. Despite this, Bolin does go through with the plan and ultimately led to him getting roped into dealing with one of the members of the Triple Threat Triad (Those of whom, Mako has told him that he shouldn't be associating himself with anymore) and THEN getting kidnapped by the Equalists. Whoops. But the inferiority and frustration that Bolin has for Mako doesn't sever their bond, it more or less challenges Bolin to try to make himself better, and their bond remains as strong as it is and kept them incredibly loyal to each other.
Besides Mako, there's another person that Bolin greatly cares for happens to be Korra. From the moment they met, Bolin's made it just about obvious what his feelings for Korra is. Korra started out as (to Mako, mainly) "another crazy fangirl he brought in from the stands", but Bolin didn't think that at all, he honestly thought she was really something special, and he was absolutely right about this. Heck, Bolin's especially eager to give her a few lessons on how to be a different bender in the arena. (Even if at first Bolin thinks that she's just a waterbender before discovering who she really was, oop.)
There's honestly nothing that Bolin sees about Korra that he doesn't like. He finds her fun, and absolutely beautiful, and he doesn't even mind if she's stronger than him. He honestly doesn't even care if she's the Avatar or not, her overall qualities make what he loves about her. In fact, whenever Korra was shot down by Mako (who was dating Asami at the time) and Bolin attempts to cheer her up by taking her on a date and Bolin's offer was accepted, he couldn't have been a happier guy.The date was great and creeped out a lot of onlookers who weren't expecting it to turn into a giant belchfest. Un...until they came back and Bolin walked in on Korra and Mako kissing.
Ouch.
Of course, they all would make up later for this incident, and they would remain friends. This doesn't stop Bolin from thinking anything different of Korra. In fact, even before Korra's final battle with Amon, when the two were to separate for their own reasons, he shows a bit of grief to leave her as they embrace. It's really evident that he still cares for her a great deal even after all of this.
The final member of Team Avatar is also someone that Bolin feels pretty friendly about. Asami and Bolin actually do get along fairly well, despite the awkward conversation that led to Bolin telling the Makorra kiss during the pro-bending tournament, Bolin of course tried to fix it by speaking about how he was over the kiss and all despite it hurting him, but... Asami wasn't the same. Now Asami might not hold the same bond that Bolin has with Mako and Korra, but I would be lying if Asami didn't mean a lot to Bolin. Even when it comes down to it he wouldn't hesitate to try to help Asami when she was trying to take down her father and ultimately saving her life.
So you know, it's safe to say if you've become friends with Bolin, you've gotten yourself made up for life. He absolutely loves the friends that he has and cares for them deeply. He'll even go out of his way and do everything he can to try to cheer them up. He means well in what he does, even if sometimes it doesn't work out in his favor (especially how many times his brother has shot him down for trying to make the situation better, or gotten into trouble for it.) and feels that his attempts are, as stated before, a good idea. And, despite the fact that he is as immature as he can be at times, it doesn't mean that he doesn't know how to be mature. Bolin is only sixteen, and he's still making his mark on the world in his own ways, just as the others in Team Avatar are.
[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] : First and foremost, Bolin is an Earthbender. As an Earthbender, he can basically manipulate the rock and earth and use it in his own will to fight. Bolin's own style of Earthbending is different from what is normally taught. Instead of the down-to-earth style, he has a more modernized and "light on his feet" style, which can help him in quite a bit situations. A greater point with his skills is the fact that he's able to actually Earthbend without touching the ground at all. But he's still not as great as other Earthbenders, he still has some ways to go in his skills.
Another thing is his resistence to pain. While in the middle of the semifinal pro-bending match, Bolin takes a nasty hit to his right shoulder making him unable to move the arm. Despite the pain he was not willing to give up in the slightest, still trudging on to play with one hand until he was to be knocked off the ring and into the water.
But taken back on the part of his weaknesses, a big weakness that he has is his naivity, due to his brother wishing to shelter him from what the real world is while they were growing up. Because of this, he sometimes has a childish spin on a situation, such as trying to gain 30,000 yuans for the team by having Pabu perform circus tricks and thinking it's a good idea, or trying to stay positive and speak out whenever he shouldn't, like of course... Korra losing all of her elements and only having Airbending. As stated before, he does certainly mean well for a kid his age, he's just a little bit clumsy with his timing.
[ Other Important Facts ] : He's being accompanied by his Fire Ferret, Pabu, who is of essence a Red Panda and a Ferret mix. :v
...
Because Pabu loves him. ;_;
And I need a ladies man on my roster.

[It's so odd having your life change in such an instant. All the events that had unfolded before he came here, and especially those that were JUST happening. He had just witnessed Korra leave after the grim news was given by Katara. He knew for a fact there had to be some other positive about the situation, other than the girl could now focus on one element that she hadn't been able to even begin working on during the entire duration of them knowing each other. Unfortunately, as he was about to figure to try to go out and talk to her was cut short. His vision, everything, it was blackened, and the next thing he knew he was on the ground and wet.
Oh, and he wasn't just wet, he was soaking wet, like he had just went for a swim. But that would be crazy! It was way too cold in the Southern Water Tribe to be swimming. Stirring from that unfortunate nap he took, he opened his eyes wide at the surroundings.
This was not the Souther Water Tribe's compound.
This was far different from the compound. ]
... No way.
[He could only utter, still slowly taking in the surroundings. There was no way this was happening, it had to all be a dream or something!
Fortunately for him, he had Pabu with him! As he was eyeing what he could in the Plaza, he saw the fire ferret sitting on a pile of towels and chattering for him, and he went right over to it. As the boy bent down to get one, Pabu climbed right onto his shoulder and he lifted it up.]
Okay Pabu, we just need to stay calm. Calm, cool and... collected.
[He began to dry off with the towel, looking around him again. There was no way he could be in some city underwater, maybe it was some kind of weird trap or something? Who knows! ]
Maybe... we can find someone who can explain what's going on!
[But there was one thing bugging him. He felt like there was something in his pocket. He decided to fish out the contents, and lo and behold, there was the SFC. Bo gives the SFC the most perplexed look, trying to figure out what it does. This type of technology really isn't his thing, safe to say.]
Well, this is kinda strange. I wonder what it even does.
[He's never really seen technology like this, aaa... With more fiddling, he accidentally turns on, gives it another few looks, and then shoves it into his pocket. He'll figure it out later! Right now, he feels like he can cover more ground by getting a look at this place.]
Alright, so... we're in some weird underwater city, and we only have each other it seems? Or, or maybe they're somewhere else in this city! Yeah!
[...At least, you know, he hoped. He didn't want to get separated from the team in an unfamiliar city. He doesn't want that again. It was almost like getting kidnapped all over again, only this time he's... just so confused.]
Pabu. [he looks to his shoulder towards his companion, then out to the city streets.] We've gotta keep an eye out for them, okay? They're out here somewhere, and we're gonna find them! They've already done the same thing for me, and I know they've gotta be out there, I've got a feeling they are!
[With a smile, he starts into his walk, trying to walk as fast as his frame can carry him. He knows he's got to cover as much ground as he can before nightfall, who knows who could be out here at night!]
